Current Trends in Teleradiology Utilization Patterns in India, Including Perceptions and Attitudes- A Nationwide Survey of Indian Radiologists

International Journal of Health Technology and Innovation (2024)

A nationwide online survey was conducted to examine teleradiology utilization patterns in India and its impact on healthcare. The article explores the perceptions and attitudes of Indian radiologists toward this practice model. A total of 309 radiology professionals participated in the survey, with the vast majority reporting experience in utilizing or practicing teleradiology. Many respondents indicated the use of a dedicated teleradiology workflow. While teleradiology is widely adopted and viewed positively overall, certain concerns persist that require attention. To know details of survey results, read through the article. Click on the below link…

Integration of Teleradiology and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges

Medical Research Archives (2024)

Teleradiology has played an important role over the past two decades, but given the mismatch between the dramatically increased utilization of radiologic imaging and the relatively constant number of trained radiologists entering practice, additional solutions are necessary. Teleradiology and Artificial Intelligence have exceptional synergies from the perspective of both being technology enabled healthcare delivery mechanisms that address the same fundamental issue of radiologist shortages. These synergies lead to a multiplier effect in terms of Teleradiology enabling Artificial Intelligence algorithms to be deployed at scale globally over a short time frame to rapidly achieve greater impact than either solution can individually. This article will review the opportunities whereby Artificial Intelligence can further enhance Teleradiology practice, as well as explore the challenges that exist at this time that may potentially delay this process of integration. Imaging of acute scrotal infections, complications and mimics

Emergency Radiology (2024)

Infection of the scrotum and its contents is the most common cause of acute scrotum. Imaging plays an important role in evaluating disease extent, severity and its complications. Sonography is the modality of choice for imaging the acute scro-tum. This pictorial review discusses the varied clinical and imaging features of scrotal infections and their complications,
with correlative CT, when available. To know more, do read.

A teleradiology network for the improvement of healthcare and patient management in the developing countries of the African continent

Clinical Imaging (2024)

Africa is the second-largest continent on Earth in terms of both size and population. However, inaccessibility and shortfall of trained radiologists impede the delivery of adequate healthcare to such a large population. Teleradiology holds considerable potential in improving patient outcomes and healthcare delivery in African nations by furnishing timely interpretation of radiological examinations, particularly in those areas where there is a particular scarcity of radiologists. Offshore reporting of radiologic examinations supplementing healthcare delivery worthy of Medicare reimbursement

Imaging and Radiation Research (2024)

The time has come for US Medicare to start reimbursing for offshore radiology reads… with the plethora of American Board-Certified Radiologists who want to live overseas and work via teleradiology, this is a potent solution to overnight radiology coverage shortages for US hospitals. However, Medicare needs to change with the times and archaic reimbursement policies need to be revised in this global, tele-enabled world. To understand this complex issue with a simple solution, do read.
