CME on Emergency Radiology

An exciting day long CME was just conducted by our team over this past weekend on the subject of Emergency Radiology, with an enthusiastic response from radiologists in Bangalore and around. This is a growing and evolving field and we are in an position to see a unique spectrum of disease, given that we report emergent scans for hospitals in 20 countries around the world. The topics covered ranged from biliary to obstetric to pulmonary to cardiovascular to neurologic, all with an emergency focus. Spreading our learnings in emergency radiology is important for us as this is a field where medical science and technology converge to make a significant positive impact on patient care in acute life threatening disease.

There are some encouraging efforts under way to begin a society of Emergency Radiology in India. The ASER in the US is an active body that conducts excellent CME training on the subject. As a reviewer for that society’s journal Emergency Radiology, I feel happy that I am able to be able to contribute to learning in this subspecialty at an international level.

Conducting CME programs is one way to inject a bolus of information on a key topic as well as simultaneously heighten awareness on its importance and relevance. For us it is also a lot of fun.
